Individual Training Grant From Workforce1

STEPS TO RECEIVE AN INDIVIDUAL TRAINING GRANT (ITG) FOR FREE SECURITY GUARD TRAINING THROUGH WORKFORCE1 

  • Eligibility Check & Registration: 
    • Meet Basic Requirements: 
      • Be at least 18 years old. 
      • Be actively seeking employment or currently employed and earning less than a certain income threshold. 
      • Have a high school diploma or GED. 
      • Be ready to work immediately after training completion. 
  • Register with Workforce1: 
    • Visit a Workforce1 Career Center in person or online. 
    • Create an account and provide necessary information.
  • Career Exploration & Assessment: 
    • Career Counseling: 
      • Meet with a Workforce1 Career Counselor to discuss your career goals, interests, and skills. 
      • Explore potential career paths and identify in-demand occupations. 
    • Skills Assessments: 
      • Take necessary skills assessments to determine your strengths and areas for improvement. 
  • Training Selection & Application: 
    • Research Eligible Training Programs: 
      • Explore the NYC Training Guide to find eligible training programs that align with your career goals. 
    • Complete ITG Application: 
      • Submit a formal application for the ITG, outlining your chosen training program and how it will help you achieve your career objectives. 
  • Interview & Selection Process: 
    • Interview with Career Counselor: 
      • Participate in an interview with your Career Counselor to discuss your application, training plan, and career goals. 
    • Selection Criteria: 
      • The selection process is competitive. Factors like your eligibility, career goals, training plan, and potential for success will be considered.
  • ITG Approval & Enrollment: 
    • Approval Notification: 
      • If approved, you will receive notification and be issued an ITG voucher.
    • Enroll in Training Program: 
      • Use the ITG voucher to enroll in your chosen training program at an eligible training provider. 
  • Complete Training & Job Search Assistance: 
    • Attend Training: 
      • Successfully complete the training program according to the agreed-upon schedule.
    • Job Search Support: 
      • Receive ongoing job search assistance from Workforce1, including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job placement services.
